Annual Day is the most anticipated event in a school’s academic year. It gives students a perfect opportunity to instil positive values and recognize their abilities and talents through the medium of music, dance, and drama. The array of captivating acts performed leave behind a strong impact on the audience, and the actors who intend to bring forth a message or an issue of prime concern to notice.
It’s that month of the year where academic and non-academic aspects of the curriculum are all set to abode and new aspects are set to aboard with the new session setting in. What’s better than celebrating victories of the gone by year with larger than life celebrations full of valour and excitement? Marking the 6th annual day celebrations of the school, Global Indian International School (GIIS) Indore celebrated the occasion with utmost fervour and enthusiasm at the Ravindra Natya Grah theatre. The theme for this year’s annual day celebrations were based on “Arcus - colours of vibrance” i.e. thematic show of talent, Imagination and organization where students performed on tune of songs with colourful props, depicting the importance of different colours. The annual day celebrations for the school for grades 4-10 was held in the evening with parents forming the audience.
The celebrations kicked off with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest and guest of honour - Mr. Ajay Mehra -EPF Commissioner, Mrs. Aryama Sanyal-Director Airport along with Mr. Rajiv Bansal - Director Operations, GIIS India, Mr. Sumit and Hemant Suri - Infrastructure partners. The guests were welcomed and felicitated by the Principal, GIIS Indore, post completion of which the annual school report was presented by Dr. (Capt.) Dinisha Bhardawaj, highlighting the achievements, growth and vision of the school.
The first performance of the evening was an orchestra show presented by grade 4-10 students followed by narration of ‘Incredible India’ through Sarvadharma prayer. It was a song rendition that depicted worshiping of god in different ways to highlight the unity in diversity of our country and the fact that, we as Indians, must preserve the cultural heritage of our country. ‘Scintillating Garba’ rolled the event further followed by Hindi drama portraying the difference in teaching methodology of the present and past. The drama enacted was an attempt to make parents familiar with the fact that each teacher in a school has a role to play in a child’s life. They work for the benefit of the child making him/her a successful individual along with making them responsible citizens who understand their roles and responsibilities towards a nation.
Next came a comic dance performance on the theme - Swachh Bharat where students, through the means of a mime, attempted to spread the message of keeping the environment safe and clean for future, and take precautionary messages to avoid mis-happenings occurring through technological advancements. Now was the turn of dances where fusion, western and Indian dance forms left everyone mesmerized. The team of GIIS Indore dancers who got 2nd runners up trophy at the recent Inter GIIS Competition - L.E.A.P.S, presented a tribal dance ‘Mevasi’ which was followed by skit on ‘rise against child abuse’, made the audience misty eyed. Shadow was the next in series depicting the importance of green, clean and a safe environment.
Last but not the least came the grand finale as grade 10 students mirrored the concept of 9 GEMS in their ramp walk on stage. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kailash Vijayvargiya shared his views on importance of education in a students’ life. He showed his utmost concern of parents’ understanding the need of right education that will open gates to a better world for their children. He even spoke in his speech to make Indore number one. He had also emphasized on Girl child education.
Dr. Dinisha, while addressing the audience, expressed her immense gratitude to all the parents for their presence and contribution in making the event a successful and a memorable one.
