Vigilance Awareness week observed at GIIS Bangalore

The Central Vigilance Commission of India observed the Vigilance Awareness Week from October to November 2017, on the theme 'My Vision - Corruption Free India'. The students of GIIS Bangalore from Grade 6-9 shared a lot of profound messages through various activities during the week.

Grade 6 students debated on ‘Ethical practices in organisations bring down corruption’. They covered all areas, which are engulfed in the vicious circle of corruption. They rightly pointed out how bribing starts from early ages as parents often tend to bribe children with gifts, like in the case when they get good marks in any exam. Influence of wrong politicians in various organizations was stressed upon. Students even spoke about ethical practices to be put into schools to reduce bullying, teasing and stealing.

Grade 7 participated in essay writing on the topic ‘Role of IT in making India corruption free’ as an effective tool to curb corruption. Students clearly emphasized on the many benefits of e-governance as the need of the hour for the nation.  Grade 8 students enthusiastically wrote slogans and drew cartoons on ‘Corruption free India’. Students wrote meaningful slogans reflecting their ideas and thoughts. The idea was to resonate the importance of having a good government for the people and by the people, one that uplifts the society and also helps in raising the economic standards of the country.

​Grade 9 students took part in Elocution on How can Value education contribute in controlling corruption’. Through their presentation they put forth the importance of life skill education along with all the academic subjects. They suggested projects wherein some small activities like helping somebody and reflecting on it should be done which adds to an individual’s disposition.

Through these array of activities, all the participants made use of knowledge, communication and creativity which are pivotal 21st century skills that will empower them to take responsibility for their own learning, career and above all to become good universal citizens.
