Pre-Primary students of GIIS Bangalore glistened the 4th Annual Day Celebrations with ‘iCare’

Republic Day celebration

iCare is the solution for Global Warming. iCare is the way to love Mother Earth. iCare is the way to live in harmony with Nature. iCare is the right path to lead a happy and healthy Life.

‘iCare for the Nature around me’ is the strong belief of the students of the Pre-Primary block of Global Indian International School (GIIS) Bangalore. The 4th Annual Day was a special surprise for all the parents gathered that evening. The theme iCare was the awareness drive or rather the message which the tiny tots wished to share with the world. All the performances were taken from the things they have learnt in their curriculum all through the academic year. The performances were exemplary and their costumes were very colourful.

There were many skits and dance performances under the main concept of iCare.

‘Say No to Plastic’ was presented by the characters Shin Chan with his friends Kazama and Masao. The piling of plastic trash in landfills and oceans is what we hear every now and then on television and in newspapers. There are so many ways by which people are told to minimise the use of plastics. The students emphasized the use of eco-friendly biodegradable bags made from fabrics and to keep the sea shores clean rather than strewn with plastic wastes.

A Skit on Global Warming was presented by Chutki and Chota Bheem with the message to save Mother Earth. A detox program was suggested that involved planting trees, recycling, saving energy and water. These were the ways to save all the birds, animals, forests, seashores, water bodies, hills, natural resources and human beings from the hazards of pollution and global warming. The Earth would then become the best place to live in the midst of flora and fauna.

Cute Peppa Pig, her brother George and her piano teacher presented a skit with the 3 R’s of Environment – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The skit showcased the simple way to keep our surroundings clean and reduce pollution. They described the benefits of segregating the wastes from homes and offices in separate bins to put Organic or Food Waste, Plastic and Paper. They all took an oath to practice 3R’s to save the environment.

Nobita and Shizuka presented a skit on saving the endangered animals and stray animals. The animals need equal respect and care just as humans do. They emphasized on the fact that cutting down of trees to construct high rise buildings resulted in the extinction of rare species.

The environmental pollution through wastes dumped into lakes is an alarming issue these days in Bangalore and many cities. Dora, Diego and their dad raised the concern of the white foam in Varthur Lake caused by the toxic chemicals in there. Dora told her dad that this had to be taken as high priority by the Municipality so as to avoid poisonous gases polluting the air and affecting the lives of people.

The dance performances by the students of Pre-Primary were truly appreciated and enjoyed by everyone. The songs about conserving Mother Earth were beautifully presented and they showcased the concepts taught in iCare by the small wonders in their most expressive and cherubic manner.
