Sports draw us in for many reasons; the elegance, the competition, the history, our identification with great athleticism, a coming together of community in a shared story and so on. Sports Excellence is an important area of growth. GIIS Whitefield, Bangalore has a sprawling ground which landscapes beautifully allowing large play areas for individual sports. Amongst other sports, specialised weekly classes of horse riding, shooting and archery, from Grade IV to VII have been introduced on popular demand in collaboration with Enliven Sports Academy. Commander Amit Maini (Retd Naval Officer) will be facilitating the sports and help the riders, shooters and archers pursue their passion.

Let’s look at the value of games and play:

HORSE RIDING

Horse riding has been introduced with the goal of allowing horse lovers to experience the thrill of riding and learning the elite Equestrian sport at an affordable price.

Riding lessons will pan from elementary level of getting in the saddle, riding posture, learning about horses to mastering and improving riding styles.

RIFLE SHOOTING

A shooting sport is a competitive sport involving tests of proficiency in terms of accuracy and speed. Shooting on target improves concentration and power to focus on the core. It improves agility of both mind and body.

Students of GIIS will learn target shooting, moving object shooting and long range shooting.

ARCHERY

One of the oldest sports in the world is archery. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat. In modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and recreational activity. Concentration, aim and  assessment of distance, accuracy and speed are areas that are honed by the sport. Archery is a sport that’s fun, but also allows participants of any age or skill level to compete against others or challenge themselves individually.
