As part of Karo Sambhav school programme, which is a tech enabled environmentally beneficial organization to empower the students and teachers to make them aware of the different ways to handle the electronic waste, the third phase of the programme was hosted at Global Indian International School Bangalore on 21st February’18.
There were 2 dignitaries, Mr. Osborne, Director, Juana Technologies and Mr. Ron from food Corporation, who felicitated the school students and teachers in the following categories:
- Certificate of Completion for School - Platinum
- Certificate of Best Community Outreach - School and Teacher Category
- Certificate of Social Media Champ - School and Teacher Category
- Certificate of Maximum collection of e-waste - School and Teacher Category
- Certificate of Best Execution of School Kit - School and Teacher Category
- Certificate of Sustainable school - School Category
- Outstanding Performance - Student and Teacher Category
In total, 25 schools had enrolled for Karo Sambhav Phase 1 programme. In all, 6 exercises and e-waste had to be collected as part of Phase 1 and 2 programme. Out of 15 schools who had participated from Karnataka, GIIS Bangalore received these awards for having completed all the 6 exercises that were mentioned. They had collected e-waste and uploaded all the required files (power point presentations, photographs, video and report) on Google Drive.
This cohesive e-waste movement was successfully completed at GIIS Bangalore and the students will continue to spread the awareness regarding the proper disposal of e-waste. There were various activities conducted by the GIIS students such as knowledge sharing session about circular economy, understanding the life cycle of waste, designing an environment-friendly project based on product life cycle, creating e awareness through group discussion and survey, conducting a mock parliament to discuss the solutions and organizing e-waste collection drive for collection of e-waste in the campus.
The Principal, Mr. Ganesh Sharma expressed his appreciation for all the students and teachers for their excellent contribution towards Karo Sambhav programme. He has been instrumental in encouraging such projects in the school so that GIIS students can become inspiring ambassadors to spread the message of handling e wastage and green revolution drive in the society.
