GIIS Bangalore celebrates its 4th Annual Day in the Colours of Manthan!

Global Indian International School, Whitefield, Bangalore celebrated their 4th Annual day on a pleasant Saturday evening, the 18th of February, 2017 at the Whitefield campus. The Primary and Upper Middle School students showcased Reflections India through a cultural extravaganza – Manthan. The students of the Pre- Primary tiny tots presented the theme iCare with the wonderful message of protecting the forests to save Mother Nature. The Annual Day was a platform for each and every student of GIIS Bangalore to express themselves confidently through the various programmes. The essence of drama, music and performing arts as part of the curriculum at GIIS reflected in their expressive faces and they were all so energetic all throughout Manthan.

The event was attended by the honourable Chief Guest Sri. Acharya Ajit Kumar -Chairman of VDM-India on the move, NGO. The Guests of Honour were Wing Commander Vijay Dangawal- Principal Sainik School, Mrs. Usha Mohan-Director- the Bangalore School, Mr. Ramprakash- GIIS Infrastructure Partner and Ms. Vaishali Borde- National Head of Co-Scholastics and Early Years along with Special invitees – Commander Amit Maini and Mr. Yash Ghildiyal.

The event started with the 'Lighting of the Lamp' ceremony by the revered Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour along with the Principal, Mr. Ganesh Sharma. The Welcome Dance was encompassing and the colourful attires created magic on stage. There was a Choir presentation and then a series of musical surprise by the Furtados School of Music. The children of Pre-Primary through the iCare campaign presented contemplation of India's heritage and conservation of her resources. The exciting characters from the Jungle Book were brought onto the stage by the mesmerizing performance by the Helen O' Grady students of the Primary School students.  The students glorified the stage with a glimpse into the ancient and the world famous dance forms of India namely Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Contemporary Dances.

The Annual Day celebrations came to an end with the Grand Finale. It was a collage of glimpses of cultures across India - Lavani from Maharashtra, Karagattam folk dance from Tamil Nadu, Kalbelia from Rajastan, Kanniyarkali from Kerala, Bhangra from Punjab and Kavadi festival from Karnataka. The captivating backdrops, the amazing props and the colourful costumes made the performances all the more fantastic. The scintillating performances by the students created an aura of celebration of Indian culture along with the powerful message to protect Nature.

 Mr. Ganesh Sharma envisioned a bright future for all the GIISians with the immense learning opportunities that the students are given alongside the academics. He was pleased to see the increasing number of achievements of students in all competitions- National and International. He said that GIIS had able and experienced teachers on board to guide the students with right knowledge and community social responsibility.

Ms. Vaishali Borde shared inspiring words for all the students. She said. “The inclusion of co-scholastic and integrated learning programmes for the Primary and Upper Primary students of GIIS will help them think creative and express themselves with confidence. In fact when the Montessori learning is helping the Kindergarten students learn concepts creatively, the co-scholastic methodologies along with academics will help students of GIIS in present and future.​
