The Scholastic Environment Fund is a non-for-profit company that aims to foster global and local environmental awareness through collaboration and action amongst youth and educators from different backgrounds. This year’s SEF Oratory event was hosted by ISS International School on 16 Sep-2017. The theme for this year was "Do electronic devices promote environmentally-friendly practices?"

The panel of voluntary judges was represented from distinguished toastmasters, teachers, professionals from public and private sectors in the various industries.

There were a total of 130 participants from 16 local and international schools competing in the English Group and English Individual Categories. These participants were from primary 4 to 6 (Grade 4 to 6). They had a chance to attain the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards plus the top three Gold winners received Cash Award for each category.

GIIS Balestier students from grade 4, 5 and 6 took part in the individual and group category. They were selected and trained by the Social Science department teachers – Ms Deepshikha, Ms Sunitha, Ms Roshini and Ms Violet Lazarus. The following are the names of the students who won accolades.
