In an endeavour to encourage students to be confident, be responsible and to learn teamwork, GIIS Balestier organizes leadership camps every year where the students stay on campus and engage in many interesting activities such as games, campfire, and etc. This is a very good platform to let students to appreciate their environment and natural surroundings, and also provide opportunities for students to be independent, and exercise self-discipline and develop team spirit and harness leadership skills.

‘I in Me’ camp kick started with 36 students on board. The students, along with two teachers Ms. Kavitha and Mr. Manoj, stayed throughout the period from September 22^nd to September 24^th 2017 at the Balestier campus. They participated in various enriching activities that were designed to suit the purpose and objectives of this camp like sculpture making, camp fire, Indian traditional games, Yoga for the mind, gardening, Zumba and a full day trip to Universal Studios. To conclude the camp, the students showcased their achievements in a talent show.

One of the camp participants, Malhar Kulkarni, 6A said “During our camp, we did lot of activities such as clay modelling, played traditional games such as ‘Kho Kho’ and did Yoga. We learned how to make a camp fire. We also performed a small skit, which everyone enjoyed a lot. We all want the same experience again and can’t wait for another camp soon.”

At the end of the camp, each child went home with new, unique experiences, having met new people and learned new skills. All that "new" adds up to a lot of growth that can give students the confidence to handle challenges at school and later in life.
