The Schools Green Audit Awards 2012 presentation ceremony was held on November 2, 2012 at Jurong Regional Library, and the Guest of Honour for the event was Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mayor of North West Community Development Council and Vice-Chairman of the Singapore Environment Council. Ms Arathi Sekhar and Ms Padmarani Srivatsan represented the GIIS Balestier Campus and received the Lotus Green Audit Award under this years annual environmental audit programme organised by the Singapore Environmental Council (SEC). The programme aims to increase the schools level of environmental awareness and encourage each individual to develop solutions and adopt habits to improve their environment. It is notable that the campus has leaped from the entry-level Palm Award to the highest level of recognition, the Lotus Award, having surpassed levels 2 and 3, Hibiscus and the Orchid levels, respectively. This feat would not have been possible without the remarkable dedication and resilience displayed by students, parents and the teachers. |
