The objective of this inter-campus competition was to make each child’s stay and interaction a memorable one. The students and teachers of GIIS Ahmedabad campus welcomed the students from other India campuses with tika and sweets and the teachers along with a group of students performed the Garba, a traditional dance of Gujarat, complete with Dhol beats and swaying music. It was great to see the students of all India campuses join in the dance and instantly belong to a larger group.

With an aim to excel in the arena of performing arts, children enthralled the audience with their well-choreographed dances and melodious songs. The format for GIIS Jhankar was ‘fusion dance’ which was a representation of different dance forms with a central theme of ‘social causes’ ranging from the need to protect endangered species to rights of the girl child to care for the environment. The stage was set on fire by the colourful and energetic performances and the use of numerous props which enchanted the audience, compelling them to cheer and applaud. Srimati Bina Mehta, renowned dancer of Ahmedabad graced the occasion in the capacity of Chief Guest. Special guests were welcomed with a tulsi sapling and a memento.

Celebrated dancers of national repute like, Sarmishtha Sarkar, Shikha Chhangani and Bharat Baraiya judged the brilliant dances. The performers were neck to neck in competition and the judges had a tough time choosing the winners. Numerous parameters included facial expressions, make up, costume, stage coverage, dance moves, steps, coordination, theme, treatment and other nuances of dance were taken into account by the judges while selecting the winning team. GIIS Indore won GIIS Jhankar 2015 and GIIS Chinchwad followed them as winners of second position and GIIS Surat won the third position. Consolation prize went to GIIS Ahmedabad. The rolling trophy for GIIS- Jhankar went to GIIS Indore.

After the mesmerising dance performance it was time to listen to the songs of the participants of GIIS Idol. It was a mellifluous treat of divine and semi-classical singing. The panel of judges included well known singers like Aakash Shah, Sanjay Vincent and Suchita Vaz. All students sang beautifully and the winner for GIIS Idol was Hiya Kilam of GIIS Ahmedabad campus.
