Thinkers who tinker and put up STEM-tastic exhibition!

Have you entered a room abuzz with tiny balloon car roving, a JCB hydraulic arm stationed on a classroom desk and a liquid experiment that shows the presence of carbs in your food? The Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) of Global Indian International School (GIIS) Ahmedabad was bustling with students of classes 3 to 8 putting ‘Science Technology Engineering Maths’ (STEM) into action and exhibiting vivid models. GIIS Ahmedabad put up a first of its kind STEM exhibition and elevated the interest of students in STEM to a new level.

STEM activities are held regularly in the classrooms to harness students’ energy and curiosity to comprehend myriad scientific, engineering and mathematical problems through activities. Where book explains the theory, STEM suffices with the practical knowledge. Especially when the students are able to explain the mechanism of a steam boat sailing in a tub of water, science behind liquids changing colour, galvanisation, lungs breathing etc., Experiments create an everlasting impression in the students’ minds, thereby, explaining them the theory with ease.

The students demonstrated their experiments and activities to visitors and their quick answers to queries were proof enough that STEM satisfies the need of a curious mind.

When STEM is integrated with science, maths, technology or engineering, it gives wings to the creative minds of the students who learn from witnessing how their books transform into action!
