Spreading the message of Empathy; Martyr@aps@s Day

Martyr@aps@s Day

Martyrs@aps@ Day marks the death anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. To commemorate this day, under the aegis of the Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Universal Values, Class IV students of Global Indian International School Ahmedabad presented an assembly on an important universal value, which is @aps@Empathy@aps@. There is a growing concern for the apparent decline of empathy in society today, but society must find a balance. Empathy is very valuable, maybe the most valuable resource for humanity. The students conveyed this important message through an effective skit and a Hindi street play. Empathy has the power to resolve conflict. It fact, it may be one of the most successful strategies and it costs nothing.

Mr. Caesar D@aps@Silva, Principal GIIS Ahmedabad aptly concluded the assembly by saying that out of the three ways of approaching someone@aps@s sufferings; pity, sympathy and empathy, the best way is to follow the path of Empathy. He urged the students to become conscious of other people@aps@s sufferings and treat them with empathy. He spoke of Gandhi as an embodiment of compassion and kindness, his influence on the entire nation as well as on the world at large.

The entire school held two minutes of silence in respect for the great soul, the Mahatma.
