Global Indian International School Ahmedabad campus was bowled over by his demeanour, charm, and of course his game! India’s ace wicket-keeper and batsman Parthiv Patel cast a spell with his stature and words of wisdom on GIIS Cricket enthusiasts. And, why not, for Indians Cricket is a religion, where people don’t give a second thought on skipping their unavoidable boardroom meets; where the Sensex plummets if a match is lost; and where everything comes to a screeching halt just to witness the ODIs!

This Cricket frenzy was also witnessed at GIIS by the students, the parents, and the teachers present. As part of the Leadership Lecture Series, GIIS invited young Cricketer Parthiv Patel to launch the school’s Cricket playground and celebrate India’s 70th Independence Day. It was like a dream come true for GIIS team of Cricketers to welcome the Chief Guest for their Cricket Playground launch. Parthiv has done the country proud with his Cricketing prowess and has played for teams like Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers, India Green, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Cricket Association President’s XI, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He inspired the GIIS team by sharing anecdotes from his life and his early days as a budding cricketer. “Cricket calls for self-discipline and perseverance. My message to the young cricketers of GIIS Ahmedabad is that they must try hard and play fair,” said Parthiv. He also stressed on the significance of cultivating leadership skills, and how it helps one to steer clear of various difficulties and achieve life goals. He also advised the already-awestruck-students that just like in sports, life too demands focus, discipline and determination to succeed, forming the basic qualities of a successful leader.

He also hoisted the Indian flag and unfurled hope, positivity, and inspiration in our students. After this inspiring lecture, the star cricketer demonstrated his cricket skills and shared tips about the game with the team. The audience thronging the boundaries of the Cricket playground went berserk when Parthiv hit few shots on one of the players of the GIIS team. The air filled with people shrieking his name in exhilaration while he was showcasing his batting skills!

The Leadership Lecture Series is powered by the Chandu Borde Global Cricket Academy (CBGCA) and famous personalities like the legendary Cricketer Steve Waugh, danseuse Leela Venkataraman, Bhara Bariya, and ambassador Aftab Seth, have visited the Ahmedabad campus.
