The atmosphere was pulsating, the vibes exalting and the adrenaline rushing to the point of infinity. Every soul in the mammoth 7,000 sqft space brimmed with excitement as it witnessed the grand launch of the much-awaited Dr. M.G.K. Menon Memorial Hall; a state-of-the-art Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) and the Annual Day 2017!
Global Indian international School (GIIS) Ahmedabad added yet another feather to its cap with the unveiling of the MPH which was inaugurated by honourable Cabinet Minister, Mr. Atmaram Parmar, in the presence of Mr. Kamal Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, Global Schools Foundation, Mr. Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, Global Indian International School (India) and Mr. Caesar D’Silva, Principal, GIIS Ahmedabad. The school is now ready with its second phase of construction with the completion of the MPH. The infrastructure of Dr. M.G.K. Menon Memorial Hall at GIIS Ahmedabad includes indoor sports facilities like martial arts, chess, basketball and badminton among others.
Witnessing the cultural event, Mr. Parmar said, “I am extremely impressed by the functioning of the school and I am happy that I accepted the invitation to visit GIIS as the Chief Guest. I am touched by the sensitivity and intellect of the students here and I encourage them to study hard and become successful individuals but stick to their roots. I liked the theme of the Annual Day ‘Smiles Across Miles’ where students embark on a journey to see the miseries of the world and come back home with the enlightenment that it is Smile that keeps us sailing in turbulent waters.”
Soon after the launch of the MPH, the Annual Day celebration unfolded into a dance-drama extravaganza with parents and other dignitaries being mesmerised by the impacting performances by every child on the stage!
The event also saw the felicitation of the thirteen students of GIIS Ahmedabad who won three awards at the recent annual GIIS Real World Challenges Convention (RWCC) held at GIIS East Coast Campus Singapore. Thirteen GIIS Ahmedabad students formed part of the 70-student strong Indian contingent that qualified for the first round on Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) and travelled to Singapore to participate in the final round of GIIS RWCC which was graced by Mr. Ash Singh, one of Asia’s top start-up coaches.
The Ahmedabad team competed against close to 500 students from across the world and were first runner-up in ‘Innobeats’ and ‘Quality Circle’ categories and came second runner-up in ‘AdZapp’ category.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Kamal Gupta, said, “GlIS believes in holistic development of its students and learning at GIIS is not just restricted to academics. It’s about building multidisciplinary capabilities in the students. Our inter-curricular approach helps us to inculcate practical and life skills in students so that they are better equipped to face real world situations. GIIS ensures that the learners are provided with new-age facilities, multiple options of co-curricular activities that would enhance the learning skills and multifaceted growth of our students.”
Mr. Rajeev Katyal said, “Entrepreneurship and Innovation is the cornerstone to learning at GIIS and RWCC is the meeting point of the most creative and innovative young minds. GIIS Ahmedabad students have been participating in annual competitive meets at GIIS Schools in Singapore and winning laurels there as well as in Ahmedabad. Now, with the launch of new state-of-the-art multipurpose hall, we hope it will lead to a quantum jump in the quantity and quality of co-curricular activities for the school children and see the school reach new heights.”
Mr. Caesar D’Silva said, “I am happy to see the relentless work of my teachers and the non-academic staff in making this programme a success. It gives me great pleasure to witness the participation and confident expression of each and every student of GIIS Ahmedabad. I am positive that the students will make GIIS proud by achieving success.
