It wouldn’t be a hyperbole, if we said that GIIS Ahmedabad school premises came to life! The corridors, classrooms, multi-purpose hall and the school ground turned into mass dance floor, literally! Both primary and pre-primary students danced their hearts out like and shed their inhibitions to take part in the largest dance party ever. And why not, the reasons were lofty enough to get into a frenzy. Firstly, it was the last day of school for students before they bid adieu and go on a long Summer break and, secondly, it was World Dance Day.
The pre-primary teachers and students celebrated the day by wearing Red and paying tribute to the great dancer Mallika Sarabhai by performing classical dance on ‘Vakratund Mahakay’. The little ones then did some great moves on ‘Waka Waka’, ‘Zoobie Doobie’ and ‘Barbie Girl’. Even the teachers could not resist and shook a leg with the students. The children exhibited immense confidence when they performed before the audience, fearless.
This was true for the primary students as well, who added to the excitement by doing various activities and later pouring out of their classrooms to dance to the foot-tapping Bollywood numbers. Such activities develop deeper bonds between teachers and students. And, the bonhomie was visible in the school premises with both teachers and students participating in fun-filled activities on the last working day of school. To sum it up, it was an exhilarating start to the Summer break for students and teachers alike!.
