GIIS Ahmedabad Health Inspectors pledge to ‘Fight Bac’

Cleanliness around us shows the cleanliness within us. With this motto the health inspectors of Global Indian International School Ahmedabad, took charge of the cleanliness drive beginning with the school premises. But, their first step to cleanliness was ‘Personal Hygiene’. The students of classes 7 and 8 initiated this mission to create awareness among their fellow students that small changes in the way we live can contribute substantially in making our surroundings clean.

Firstly, these health inspectors wore a sash around which read ‘GIIS Health Inspectors’ and pinned a badge saying ‘Fight Bac’ – meaning let’s fight the bacteria. They conducted a special assembly on Hygiene wherein they zeroed in on the causes of illnesses like dysentery, malaria, dengue, cholera, typhoid, viral infection, tonsillitis, etc. and pointed out the fact that these communicable diseases can be avoided if we maintain personal hygiene.

The students said that healthy habits like washing hands before eating and using the lavatory, covering the mouth while sneezing/coughing, avoiding outside food during monsoon, covering the toilet lid post the usage, and eating healthy food to increase immunity, can save us from contracting these diseases.

To encourage the students and draw them towards cleanliness, the health inspectors went around in the school premises during their break and awarded badges to the students who kept their surroundings clean, like throwing waste in classroom dustbin only, keeping toilets clean after use, washing hands, not littering, etc.

The Hygiene Week has brought in immense responsibility in the students and staff to maintain personal hygiene first to keep our surroundings clean.
