Celebrating Indian Independence Day

Independence Day is celebrated every year at the school campuses to educate and remind the students about the nation@aps@s Independence movement to free India from the British Empire on 15th August 1947 and pay homage to the great leaders who played an inspiring role towards freedom of our country " India" and taking it forward. The bond of brotherhood and the need to live in communal harmony for the growth and prosperity of the land.

The school building, entrance and the corridors were decorated beautifully with the tricolour flags and national symbols. The function began by garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and the Student Council escorting the Chief Guest Ruzan Khambatta, a social activist, founder of Women’s Helpline - 1091 Police Heart and an IT entrepreneur along with the Principal to hoist the National Flag. Parade by the Student Council and parent participation marked the spirit of Independence Day Celebration at GIIS Ahmedabad. Patriotic song by class I students was followed by dance recital on ‘Bharat Pyara Desh Humara’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ by classes I, II and III. The kids of Pre-primary dressed as freedom fighters enacted famous patriots like Gandhi, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and many more. They received thunderous applauds. The school choir sang ‘We Shall Overcome’ and students of classes IV, V & VI put up a performance of fusion songs. The address of Chief Guest was highly inspiring, especially for mothers and children. Mr. D’silva Principal GIIS Ahmedabad, in his message invited everyone to contribute in building of our nation. GIIS Ahmedabad arranged a cricket match between parents and staff in which the school team won. The day ended in a great spirit of bonding.
