Student Council Investiture 2017-18

<p>Responsibility, Accountability, Empathy, rising to the occasion! These are some of the tenets of leadership. Children of today are productive citizens and leaders of tomorrow. They need to be trained in the art of governance and rule of law. Global Indian International School (GIIS) Abu Dhabi does it by forming Student Council every year. The student council is responsible for helping the school leadership and teachers manage the school and student affairs productively.</p>
<p>The process of formation began in the month of April. The students were shortlisted based on the evaluation of their application forms. The shortlisted students were given an opportunity to present their views before the students in the school assembly. This was followed by the conduct of election and voting. All students from Grade 7 and above took part in the voting. Polling booths were set up and students cast their votes based on their choices.</p>
<p>Besides the number of votes received by candidates, teachers&rsquo; recommendations also were taken into account while finalizing the members of Student Council. Results were announced to the students in a special assembly highlighting the fact that in a contest at times there are disappointments and we must learn to accept them and move on!</p>
<p>The Student Council was invested with the power of office on 4th May 2017 in the Multi Purpose Hall. It was indeed a proud moment for all present and specially for the parents of the students who were receiving the badges of leadership.</p>
<p>The event was graced by eminent members of GIIS Principal Mr. Ramesh Mudgal, Director Operations, MENA Mr. Amol Vaidya, Business Development Manager, Mr. Rajendran Padmanabhan, KG Head&nbsp; Mrs. Geeta Menon and Primary Coordinator Mrs. Merlin Maria.</p>
<p>The ceremony started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Syed Imaduddin of Grade 8B followed by the UAE and Indian National Anthems. The march by the office bearers brought solemnity in the air. All present were delighted to watch the student leaders take their stand on the stage. Our distinguished guests honored them with the Pinning of the Badges. Principal handed over the school flags to the office bearers &amp; administering the oath of office.</p>
<p>Our newly elected Head Girl Nova Varghese administered the oath reiterated by all the elected student council members.&nbsp; The Ceremony ended with the vote of thanks to our honorable guests and our dear parents who are a pillar of support for our Student Leaders.</p>
<p>The group photo session saw the mischievous side of these kids with some lighter moments that etched ever lasting memories. The event was a grand success with the proud parents and the beaming members of The Global Indian International Student Council 2017-2018 carrying home sweet reminiscences.</p>
<p>A truly wonderful start to a promising academic year!</p>
