To reinforce colour concepts at the Pre-primary level, GIIS celebrated colour of the week BLUE where the children wore clothes, identified things, and made art projects in that particular colour theme.
Blue is the colour of sky and sea that is associated with tranquillity. The teachers decorated the classrooms with blue objects that children can easily identify with and also made beautiful blue charts. During circle time the children talked about the blue objects that they had brought from home and during group activity, they coloured paper plates in blue to make funny masks by adding mouth, nose and eyes. They made large blue fishes on chart papers with little scraps of blue papers and were delighted when the teacher displayed their day’s work. They brought lovely blue toys from home and spoke about them. There were blue clouds, rains, blue balloons and blue drapes; everything was blue! They wore handmade blue crowns and lovely blue flowers on their heads and looked simply lovely.
The day came to an end with singing of a peppy song on blue theme. The aim of the activity was to give self-confidence to students and develop their social, physical, emotional and learning skills. Learning was fun on blue day and the children are looking forward to learn about yet another colour.
