In September 2015 marked the beginning of a special run. The newly constructed building of Global Indian International School, Abu Dhabi sprung to life with little footsteps and chirpy voices of its very first batch of Kindergarten students. The tiny ones, who had left their mothers for the first time with tears tricking down their little cheeks, were escorted to the assembly zone while the apprehensive parents looked on. The teachers greeted them with smiles and soon the youngest batch was off to the classrooms marching down the corridor in the formation of a train.

Before they knew it, they were neck deep into various fun activities and time just flew by! After the students settled down in their respective classes, they sat in circles and started interacting with their friends and teachers; this is ‘Circle Time’, a distinct feature of Global Montessori Plus curriculum at GIIS. It helps children improve valuable communication skills, problem solving skills, confidence building and aids in boosting self-esteem.

The next activity was fitness through structured play like walking on the straight line which helps in coordination of gross motor skills and balance. Building blocks helped in learning about the concept of shapes through hand-eye coordination. They also engaged in free play at the play zone and enjoyed themselves thoroughly. A walk round the school was also a part of the activity to familiarise them with the surroundings. Tiffin break was a great bonding exercise for the children.

KG II students were encouraged to write alphabets and through story-telling and use of phonics, were slowly introduced to language learning. They loved counting as the teacher slowly introduced mathematical concepts through play.

Children get fascinated towards colours and they had a great time learning about the colour @aps@Yellow@aps@, as they identified different objects that are yellow in colour. Then they happily coloured on the drawing sheets using colours of their choice.

Teachers familiarised themselves with their students and spent the whole day making them feel comfortable in the new environment. Through engaging activities, they slowly inched towards winning the confidence of the young students. Every day they would create magic for the little ones who are ready to absorb everything that the teachers have to say.
