International Day of Nonviolence - IDNV@GIIS Abu Dhabi

Grand Independence Day

In observance of The International Day of Non Violence which also marks the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, Global Indian International School Abu Dhabi’s very first Inter-School Competition was held on the 6th of October, 2016. Over 250 students from 9 schools of Abu Dhabi following the CBSE Curriculum participated in the competitions. They were welcomed with kits at the registration counter, which helped them feel comfortable locating their venues in the school.

The event began by invoking the blessings of the almighty with the Quran Recitation, followed by the UAE & Indian National Anthem. The welcome dance created an aura of peace and unity. Our Principal, Mr.Ramesh Mudgal, then, welcomed the guests & Judges and introduced the Teams from various schools. Business Development Manager Mr. Rajendran spoke of the importance of the Day- ‘Peace & Nonviolence.

An array of competitions  -  Let Peace Soar - poster making, Group Dance, Group Singing, Personify - Role Play and ‘Calle Theatro’- Skit which were conducted in two categories & branched into boys & girls  – brought alive the students’ talents. 

The competitions began with a lot of anticipation and excitement at various venues. A lot of meticulous groundwork had gone into the preparation of the intricacies not only for the competition but also for food and beverage. The teams presented their best. This was crystal clear in the quality of performances and the audience impact.

The valedictory Ceremony was one filled with enthusiasm and exhilaration. The high spirited students & teachers bounced with joy when the results were announced. All the schools that participated carried back trophies, goody bags and memories of joy. Speaking on the occasion, Director Operations Mr.Amol Vaidya commended the efforts of the organizing committee and congratulated all teams for their enthusiastic participation.

These competitions instilled confidence, provided a platform for self-development and helped develop a sense of respect towards peace, harmony and non violence in the mind of every participant.
