Global Indian International School Imbibes Universal Values

Chinese New Year celebrations

Following the footsteps of the Mahatma.

Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Universal Values (MGCUV) was inaugurated at the new campus of GIIS Abu Dhabi on 5 December, 2016 by Dr. Justice C. S. Dharmadhikari - Mentor and Co-founder of Global Schools Foundation in presence of Mr. Chandu Borde - President GSF and other advisory board members. A Former Chief Justice and an advocate of peace and equality, Dr. Dharmadhikari believes in Gandhian values and holds the trusteeship of several Mahatma Gandhi foundations. He has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan - one of India’s highest civilian honours  in 2004.

(MGCUV) was instituted in 2002 in Singapore to impart value-based learning and henceforth has been replicated in all the campuses to effectively instill universal values of kindness, empathy and peace in a measurable way amongst young children.

The centre at Global Indian International School Abu Dhabi aims to prepare children towards achieving the goal of ‘total development’ as envisioned by the Mahatma and other global thought leaders using innovative processes and a series of symposia, workshop, interactions and exhibitions organized from time to time to not only realize the vision of the centre but also educate and sensitize the region. The centre is mentored by Dr. Justice C.S. Dharmadhikari, the living Gandhian, who has helped in building a strong foundation based on values that are the guiding principles of life.

Students of GIIS sang two favourite bhajans of Gandhi and Justice Dharmadhikari spoke on the importance of friendship as a connecting tool between all individuals and the need of universal peace education. “To be universal we should think globally and act locally”, he said. Mr. Chandu Borde and Prof. Marmar Mukhopadhya also shared their valuable thoughts on value-based learning and its impact in the lives of the students.

My life is my message; was said by Gandhiji and I have also tried to follow his teachings throughout my life and have largely benefited from them.
Dr. Justice Dharmadhikari
